The Sage Ministry is designed to help provide our geriatric population a place to focus on various needs in the community. We enjoy ourselves and love the activities that are provided for us. Our ministry is growing more and more each year.
Sage strives to be a dynamic group of seniors who are committed to high standards, enhancing the quality of life for each other. With the help of Pastor Duckworth, we have Gethsemane’s Health program check on some of our medical needs. We keep a watchful eye on each other, while striving to be a beacon in our community.
What We Do
The Sage ministry meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the W.W. Davis Fellowship Hall. During our meetings, we engage in a host of activities such as: exercising, crocheting, sewing, arts & crafts, playing games, line dancing and fellowshipping with other members and seniors from other area churches and within the community. We plan outdoor activities which include: cook – outs with Inkster Senior Services, plays and movies.
This year we visited Turkeyville in Marshall, MI where we watched a stage play and enjoyed a turkey dinner and plenty of shopping. We also made two trips to Port Huron’s arts and craft store Mary Maxum while there we toured the business’ shipping and receiving process. We had a class on bow making while enjoying hot coffee and cookies. Because of our large patronage we were given 20 – 40% discount on various items. Lastly, we were to visit the Irwin Apple Orchard. We are a Ministry that continues to stay on the go!!!
Where we’re headed
In the years to come, we will continue to strive to provide enjoyable activities, which engage all of our seniors. The Sage ministry will also continue to educate our seniors and the community at large about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by hosting health fairs, free health seminars and health screenings. We have partnered in the past with the Nursing Ministry to provide health screenings and seminars.
With Pastor Duckworth as our spiritual leader, we know we will not fail.
